Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs)

AHAs are water-soluble acids that work at the skin's surface by breaking down the bonds between dead skin cells — the intercellular "glue" that causes buildup, dullness, and uneven texture when it accumulates. By loosening and dissolving that bond, AHAs promote the shedding of the outermost epidermal layer, revealing fresher, more uniform skin underneath.

Improved texture, enhanced radiance, and significantly better product absorption follow. In the context of a professional backbar booster, AHAs prime the skin before treatment steps, meaning every subsequent active — serums, masks, targeted treatments — penetrates more effectively and delivers stronger results.

Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs)

Where AHAs work on the surface, BHAs go deeper. Because they are oil-soluble, BHAs can penetrate through the lipid layer of the follicle wall and travel into the pore itself — dissolving the mixture of sebum, dead cell debris, and oxidized oil that creates blackheads, congestion, and the persistent breakout cycle that many clients struggle to resolve with surface-only treatments.

This follicular-level exfoliation is what makes BHAs indispensable for oily, congested, and acne-prone skin. They don't just clean the surface. They clear the source.

Pentavitin

Pentavitin is one of the most sophisticated hydration actives available in professional skincare and one of the least understood outside of clinical formulation circles. Unlike standard humectants that simply attract water to the skin's surface, Pentavitin is a saccharide isomerate complex that actually binds to the keratin structure of the skin cells themselves — mimicking the skin's own Natural Moisturizing Factor.

The result is 72-hour hydration that persists through washing, sweating, and environmental exposure. In a clear skin context, this matters enormously: skin that stays hydrated doesn't overproduce sebum to compensate for dryness, and the rebound oiliness cycle that worsens congestion is interrupted at its source.
